About
Arlette O’Rourke
Born in Boston Massachusetts 1981, to an absent and abusive father and a young mother. The world not exactly being my oyster I ran away from home at 14, 15, and 16, riding trains across the US. At 18 I was arrested for selling marijuana and shortly thereafter was on the run from the law for nearly a decade. In this time frame, I began to realize I had control of my destiny. I learned to sail and left for Mexico in 2007. After a turbulent breakup with my teenage sweetheart and then husband I managed to travel most of Central and South America. I later returned in 2009 to attend school and clear my name. My first husband died in 2011 from a drug overdose in Rincon, Puerto Rico. I later met my second husband whose family gave me their trust and love. Our son was born in 2014. This first-time encounter with familial accountability gave me the parental guidance needed to start a catering company out of our home. Though this marriage did not last, we remain friends and co-parents of our son. Thank you, Tom and Jackie, for saving my life.
So here we are on a new mission. So many experiences have led me down this path and many times it was just a matter of faith. I am an entrepreneur, vegan chef, ultra-runner, certified mushroom forager, 100-ton captain, property manager, mother, student, and ex-con. I have bike packed, kayaked and adventure raced with the best of them. In 2018 I traveled to Chile and participated in the Patagonia Expedition Race, in 2021 I took the record for Volcan Baru in Panama. Currently, I am building a conservation cemetery and meditation center, while running my wedding venue and catering company. I have come to realize that every moment we make a decision that will change our lives. It is all significant. Life is magic. When you recognize the power you have, you will never live like that again.
